My Cakes

I like making cakes. Food is a big thing in our family, and as a child my mother used to make us all sorts of great cakes. I like making cakes, but really, so long as they taste OK, what I really like is decorating them. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I am very determined when I set my mind to something. I have to thank my mother and grandmother for the inspiration, and my friend Vicky Barber for teaching me the basics.

I'd love to do a proper decorating course one day, amongst all my other ambitions, so watch this space.

If you like what you see and you'd like more information on how I made them, don't hesitate to contact me. And if you scroll to the bottom, there are some websites that I think are worth checking out.

This website is great for buying all the things you need, and also I spoke for ages to a lovely lady called Lynn who gave me advice for making my sister's wedding cake (first time I'd ever made a fruit cake!):

This is a company local to me, who make the most beautiful cakes and also give you tonnes of advice. Katherine was full of great tips, and made me the fantastic edible picture to stick on the back of my brother's camera cake:
